Dr. Floyd Godfrey, PhD

I currently serve on the executive team at Family Strategies Counseling Center as an advisor and consultant. Previously, I worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona for 23 years. During that time I was an approved supervisor with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health, and also worked as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and Certified Clinical Sexologist.  I received my education from Arizona State University, Ottawa University, and the International Institute for Clinical Sexology.  I worked for nine years with the City of Tempe Social Services, as a supervisor assisting school-age children and their families.  I’ve worked in a variety of mental health settings both as a professional and within church ministry.

I am one of the original founders of the Sexual Addiction & Betrayal Trauma (SABR) program – a clinical intervention for men with sexual addiction and their partners. I am also the co-author of Band of Brothers and Tribe – clinical interventions for young men in high school and college who have compulsive sexual behavior.  I am a member of SASH (Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health), iitap (International Institute for Treatment Addiction Professionals), and the AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors).  I am often known for my research and intervention with those who struggle with sexualized attachments and eroticized emotions. My recently published book is entitled “Healing & Recovery – Perspective for Young Men with Sexualized Attachments”.

I maintain a Biblical-worldview of Christian living and believe that faith in God is important for spiritual growth and healing.
